Cookie information

Like most websites, we use “cookies”.  Cookies are small text files that are saved to your computer or mobile device so our website can recognise you.

Our most important reason for using cookies is to enable businesses to log in to our website, to manage their directory pages.  If you’re not using our website as a business or logging in, then you shouldn’t need cookies to use our website.

The other reason we use cookies is so we can use Google Analytics.  Google Analytics tells us how many visitors we have, and how people are using our website.  This helps us understand how well the website is working for visitors, and helps us improve it.

The information about your visit that is shared with Google Analytics is anonymised, which means Google can’t get your personal details from us, only the fact that another person has visited the site.  However, you should be aware that if you allow cookies from many sites, Google can “join the dots” and figure out who you are so they can serve you adverts based on your interests.  And that’s also why European law requires websites to tell you that they’re using cookies.

You can choose to block cookies if you are concerned about them.  You can choose to block them just on our site, or on all sites.  The best way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser.  We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.
